Stanford University

I spend the summer of 2015  in the Stanford Robotics AI Lab developing the HFI (Haptic fMRI Interface).  Working under Oussama Khatib, Samir Menon and Hari Ganti, I designed and built the next generation of their HFI. The publication can be found here.

The HFI is a balanced, 5-Degree of Freedom manipulator designed to be used in conjunction with an MRI scanner in order to map tasks onto the brain.  As such, the HFI had to be MRI-compatible which required unusual design decisions like all-plastic framework and shielded motors.   Two HFIs could be set up in conjunction to perform more complicated tasks.
